What did Bardem say in his acceptance speech? Something like this (my translation on the fly, so maybe not 100% accurate):

"Mama, this is for you. This is for your grandparents and your parents, Rafael and Matilde. This is for the great performers of Spain who, like you, have brought dignity and pride to our profession. This is for Spain and this is for all of you."

(Bardem comes from a family of actors on his mother's side. His mom and her father were also actors.)

  1. I didn't know you spoke Spanish, Uncle Scoopy! Yes, you got 95% right, but he didn't say "the great performers", he said "los cómicos" (the comedians), meaning the actors who travelled around the country, from village to village, trying to make a living in a profession with no respect or future. There's a very good movie about them called "El viaje a ninguna parte". http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0090259/
