Notice anything missing? Oscar nominee Michael Clayton is not on the list of the top 45 films! The following are films which are on the list and which I, too, would have nominated before Clayton: Into the Wild, American Gangster, Gone Baby Gone, Eastern Promises. (I really wasn't impressed by the script for The Bourne Ultimatum, but I would certainly support nominating Greengrass as Best Director and his editor for the appropriate award. Those two guys could make anything exciting.)By the way, I 'm not saying Michael Clayton is a weak movie. It's a sturdy thriller, but not "top five" material. It might not even be in the top five thrillers!
I agree with three of the Oscar nominees: There Will Be Blood, No Country for Old Men and Juno. If pressed to name two more nominees, I would probably end up with Into The Wild and Gone Baby Gone based on the ones I have seen, but I have not seen Ratatouille, Enchanted, or The Diving Bell and the Butterfly, so I can't really make the call because all three of those seem to be outstanding.

Charlie Wilson's War and Knocked Up are also surprising exclusions.
