Weekend Box Office Results for February 22–24, 2008

Weekend Box Office Results for February 22–24, 2008
An uninspiring weekend, some 12% below last year. Vantage Point won the weekend with a slightly better total than expected, but nothing to get excited about. The quirky little comedy Be Kind Rewind performed fairly well in limited distro, as expected.

The other new movies bombed even worse than expected - and the expectations were abysmal to begin with. The mini-surprise in that pairing is that Lawrence the Cable Gentleman's latest effort, despite 0% positive reviews, managed to outperform Charlie Bartlett, which is not such a bad film.

The only good news: the Oscar-nominated Juno made the top ten for the fourteenth consecutive weekend. That's uncanny staying power in today's disposable world.
