I'd have to say that the members of my family agree with this letter. We're all Ferrell fans, and we're all wondering how long he's going to get by playing Ron Burgundy with different hairstyles. How much mileage can he get out of being the dumb guy who is so deluded he thinks he's God's gift to humanity? I'm getting tired of that character, and I'm not the only one. He promoted the living fuck out of his new movie and it still bombed. In fact, some of the promotions (like the Old Spice commercials) were better than the movie itself. His attempts to try different types of comedy have not been successful. (Was Bewitched a real movie or an extended Ashton Kutcher joke?) The best post-Anchorman movie he has starred in has been a non-comedy, the fantasy/drama Stranger than Fiction.
In fact, if you look at Will's entire career, the only times he has been brilliant have been (1) on Saturday Night Live (2) a two-year period when he did Old School, Elf and Anchorman. The rest of his career has consisted of small roles and/or bad movies. And yet I'm still a huge fan because every once in a while he pops up on Letterman or somewhere and demonstrates how fuckin' funny he can be.
