Phil Hartman vs. John Belushi for all the marbles.

Hartman's place in the finals surprises me. He was a good second banana, but many SNL alumni went on to be movie headliners: Bill Murray, Mike Myers, Belushi, Adam Sandler, Eddie Murphy, Chevy Chase, Chris Farley. Others have come close to movie stardom and/or achieved stardom in other fields (Martin Short, Dan Akyroyd, Dennis Miller, David Spade, Rob Schneider.)

Although that is a long list from the male side, none of the female stars have ever become movie topliners. Gilda came the closest, and is the only female cast member ever to win an Emmy for her performing work on the show. Tina Fey won one as a writer, and is kind of a big TV star now, so she has probably eclipsed Gilda as the biggest name among the female cast members.
