I can believe that. I cornered her at Sundance in 2003 to interview her about the movie she had directed. (The Maldonado Miracle) The movie was nothing special, a sappy family pic that she took over from someone else, but it was a fascinating curiosity at Sundance, which is held in Utah, because the film was actually lensed in Utah, so I asked her how she came to that decision. Damned if I can remember her answer, but she was gracious and patient. I also talked to some people that built sets for her and they told me that she was actually working beside them with a hammer and nails at one point when they were pressed for time. So I'd have to say Salma is probably pretty cool.Sundance is a pretty relaxed environment in that there are famous and semi-famous people hanging around everywhere with minimal security and you can easily wander up and talk to them, and they'll respond if you actually have something of substance to ask or say.
Salma is also far more beautiful than her photos. She's also much shorter than I thought.
