All of the number 1-2-3 seeds are still in the hunt. The South and East regions produced totally boring results. In both cases, the 1-2-3-4 teams advanced to the next weekend. The West is only slightly more interesting, with a 1-2-3-5 matchup (Purdue beat Washington in the 4-5 game.)The Midwest produced one underdog, and that bracket is 1-2-3-12.
The path of the #12 Arizona Wildcats was serendipitous. While they were defeating #5 Utah, unheralded Cleveland State was knocking off #4 Wake Forest in an even bigger upset. Therefore, Arizona, although a #12 seed, did not have to face the #4, but was actually the favorite in the second round in a battle against a #13 seed. The Wildcats, 19-13 in the regular season and losers of six of their last seven, had no trouble against Cleveland State, but may find the road a bit rockier against Louisville in the Sweet Sixteen.
Note to Texas A&M - welcome to the big show, Aggies! (The got clobbered mercilessly by U Conn)
