He was only 54.He had one of the greatest rookie pitching seasons in baseball history, going 19-9, leading the league in ERA and complete games, and finishing second in the Cy Young balloting. That season was pretty much his entire career. He would win only ten more games in MLB. It's not that he pitched poorly. The following two years he posted ERAs of 2.89 and 2.45, but injuries tormented him non-stop.
