The cloud: each of the three major new releases came up some 30% short of expectations.The silver lining: the two best carry-overs held up better than expected. Cloudy With a Chance of Meatballs became an unlikely two-time winner because it experienced only an 18% drop from its opening week. It's a hit, with $60 million already in the bank and six figures well within reach.
The overall box was down about 6% from last year.
