Weekend Box Office Results for January 8-10, 2010 - Box Office Mojo

It was Avatar in a landslide, as expected. It took in more than the next three films added together. It took in more on Saturday than any other film took in for the entire weekend. It nearly doubled Titanic's long-held record for the best performance in a fourth weekend. ($48m versus $28m). Avatar now holds the record for the two best January weeks of all time - in its third and fourth weeks!

The Dark Knight, a summer opener, took 27 days to hit $450m. Avatar is now sitting at $429 in 24 days, and will probably miss that record by a hair.

Among the also-rans, it was a three-way photo finish for second between Sherlock, the 'Munks, and Daybreakers. At the moment, it looks like they finished in that order, but all of that could change when the final tally is in.

Leap Year took in $9m for 6th place. Youth in Revolt was around $7m, and will finish somewhere between 7th and 9th.
