NCAA College Football Game Recaps and Overviews - Week 9 - ESPN

So here's the deal with the college Top 25

It all happened in pairs:

Pair One: #2 Oregon and #1 Auburn rolled up point totals in the fifties in the process of crushing unranked opponents.

Pair Two: #4 TCU and #3 Boise State got their usual overwhelming victories against girls' volleyball teams.

Pair Three: #5 Michigan State and #6 Missouri were both undefeated, and both played ranked opponents. They both got crushed.

  • Missouri lost to Nebraska, whose ace running back ran for 307 yards on only 28 carries. Nebraska cruised to a 24-0 lead in the first quarter.
  • Michigan State's lucky streak crapped out. They were harassed and humbled by a relentless Iowa defense, which included some razzle-dazzle when one guy intercepted a pass, then flipped back to another (faster) guy, who ran for a long TD. Iowa was ahead 30-0 at halftime.

Pair Four: Nobody really cares who is #7 and #8, or what they did. For the record they both had the week off, in the sense that Alabama had no game, and Utah had a game against Air Force. Utah came close to losing that game. Air Force completely dominated the fourth quarter, and scored 13, but also lost the ball on downs twice. One more TD and they'd have won. Utah will be tested against TCU next week, as they look to get revenge for last year's 217-3 loss. (I don't remember the actual score, but it was bad.)
