Alan Grayson's ultimate negative ads - the Taliban Dan campaign - backfired big time. The 538 analysts are now showing that Taliban Dan has a 68% chance of winning. In late August he was down by 13 points, and his chance of winning was below 20%.
(The "chance of winning" is not a predicted outcome for the actual election day. It reflects the odds of winning an election if it were to be held at the point in time when they make the calculation. They are statisticians, not fortune tellers, so they cannot predict future fluctuations in the whims of the electorate.)
