Charlie Sheen's Bender -- 'Briefcase' Full of Cocaine | TMZ.com

Charlie Sheen's Bender -- somebody delivered a briefcase full of cocaine

If you were a dealer buying from a drug lord in bulk, a kilo of cocaine would cost you somewhere in the neighborhood of $22,000. A user would pay much more - in the neighborhood of $132 per gram for pure cocaine with no filler, or $132,000 per kilo.

If you're American, it's probably easier for you to think in pounds - that's $10,000 per pound at wholesale, $60,000 at street retail.

Now think of a five pound bag of sugar at your super market. Picture the size. A five pound bag of cocaine would be about the same size. You can easily fit six of those into an executive briefcase, which would be about thirty pounds of cocaine. Thirty pounds of pure cocaine has a wholesale value of about $300,000 and a street value of about $1.8 million. I suppose Charlie pays somewhere in between wholesale and retail, based on the assumption that drug dealers don't abide by the Robinson-Patman Act and therefore will cut Charlie a sweeter deal than you can get. So let's split the difference and call it an even million clams.

Now think about how wealth distribution works:

Charlie Sheen can have a million dollars worth of cocaine delivered to his house, and you have to go through your penny jar to pay the dude from Domino's.
