His hanky-panky was not job-related and he wasn't squandering any tax dollars, so I'm surprised he didn't try to tough it through. In fact, he didn't do much of anything. As Gawker pointed out, "No prostitutes, escorts, or madams were involved. Just good old fashioned lying and an apparent willingness to cheat on one's wife."
I guess he quit to fix things at home.
