iPhoneTracker

iPhoneTracker

"This open-source application maps the information that your iPhone is recording about your movements. It doesn't record anything itself, it only displays files that are already hidden on your computer."

Background: "At a security conference in San Francisco, two researchers revealed that starting with the iOS4 update, Apple iPhones began secretly keeping track of everyplace their owners go and when. Some iPads do the same thing. When synched to a home computer, the file is transferred to it. That means that anyone who steals or has access to your iPhone, iPad or home computer could open the file and know the latitudes, longitudes and times of your every move for the past year, from thieves to private eyes hired by your jealous spouse. Apple didn't comment on why they were gathering the info, but toward the end of the 15,200-word iTunes Terms of Service agreement, there is a short paragraph granting them permission to use your Apple devices to collect, use and share info on your precise geographic location."
