Heavy D dead at 44

Heavy D (Dwight Myers) dead at 44

I wonder if, in an alternate universe in which people still listen to Big Band swing music and rap is still decades in the future, Dwight Myers the slim CPA, the guy who has a grapefruit for breakfast then hits the gym for an hour before riding his bike to work, will live to be 87.

In our universe the Heavy one also had an acting career. He can currently be seen in a tiny role in Tower Heist.

  1. Bizarre statement. In that same alternate universe are John Candy, Mama Cass, and Fatty Arbuckle still alive?

  2. Fatty Arbuckle: definitely not. He was born in 1887. No matter how Spartan his lifestyle, he wasn't likely to live to 124.

Mama Cass - very possibly, although she would be 70 now. Maybe she would have avoided the drug abuse if she had never become famous. Without the fame and drug abuse, maybe she would have done something about her weight as well. When you're droppin' acid you don't really consider a trip to the gym. When you're surrounded by sycophants who keep you amused 24/7, what's the motivation to change your life?

John Candy - probably not. He probably would have died young even if he had never achieved fame. Let's assume that his career at Second City had ended after one appearance and John had become a used car salesman. He probably would have been a drunken, obese used car salesman. Based on what I've read about Candy when he was young, fame and peer pressure had nothing to do with his lifestyle. He was already like that before he became famous.
