#14 Kansas State wins - in four overtimes!
#12 Penn State is having troubles ON the field as well
#9 Clemson needs a furious fourth-quarter rally to beat unheralded Wake Forest
Undefeated #2 Oklahoma State crushes Texas Tech
It was 49-0 at halftime!
This is kind of a big deal because Texas Tech beat Oklahoma.
Undefeated #4 Stanford gets crushed 53-30 by #7 Oregon
This one doesn't seem to have much impact on the bowl picture. Oregon will rise to #4 or #5 (past Stanford and Boise, maybe past Oklahoma), but it seems unlikely that Oregon could finish the season #1 or #2, so this game should only affect which Pac-12 team goes to the Rose Bowl. And it could be neither of them. The conference championship is determined by a North-South game, and these two teams are both in the North.
Now it gets weird because of the USC post-season ban. USC is the South leader, but is not eligible to play for the title, therefore UCLA (5 losses, not in the top 40) and ASU (4 losses, not in the top 30) still have a path to the Rose Bowl. The Rose Bowl will be praying for a North victory in that North-South game because they don't want an unrated team with as many as five losses in a major bowl.
Undefeated #5 Boise State loses at home, ending a 35-game home winning streak.
That re-draws the BCS bowl picture and opens up a slot for an at-large bid. (And it just about assures a BCS slot for Houston, assuming they stay undefeated!)
Gutsy call by the TCU coach. Down 35-34, when he could have assured a tie with an extra point, he called for a two-point conversion and pulled it off. Boise had one more chance to win it with a last second field goal, but missed, bringing back memories of last season's loss to Nevada.
Not only has Boise been pushed out of the BCS bowl picture, but they also seem to have lost their own conference to TCU.
TCU has a good team, despite their lack of a current national ranking. They were rated #14 in the pre-season, and then were in the top 25 for the season's first four weeks. They are undefeated in their conference, and their only two non-conference losses were squeakers. They lost to Baylor on a field goal with a minute left, and they lost to SMU in overtime.
