I don't understand the use of the word "worse" in that question. Doesn't that still mean "more bad"? And therefore doesn't the question imply that gratuitous sex is a bad thing? I find the gratuitous sex to be one of the great pleasures of Game of Thrones.
To be serious for a moment, Game of Thrones depicts a world in which sex and violence are omnipresent. That world exists on some unspecified planet populated by people who are very much like us, but are not us. Don't be confused because the characters look like human beings. They are not. It is not our world, and does not follow our moral codes. That specific world is not even from our universe, given the fact that there is no dividing line between magic and reality or between natural and supernatural. The author has created a realm of existence in which our laws, our religions and morals, and even the natural law as we understand it, do not apply. Are you interested in the depiction of such a world? Then you should probably sit back and enjoy the ride, because it's a good one. The depiction is filled with sex and violence because that's how the author imagines that world, and such a world exists solely in his imagination - and ours if we choose to enter that world.
And if you don't like sex and violence, nobody is forcing you to watch HBO on Sunday night. Why not head down to your local video store and rent My Fucking Dinner With Andre? I'm pretty sure their one dusty copy will not be checked out.

If a TV show has to show tits/sex/cutting heads off every 5 minutes for the mass to watch it then the show is a crappy one. Let's be real - when the characters aren't having sex or killing each other then the only thing left to do is staring at the watermark.
ReplyDeleteWhat a pathetic kind of entertainment..
