Yeah, instead we get crappy supernatural thrillers instead (was looking at trailers last night and at least 10 movies coming out are horror related) but very few have prospects for skin and/or erotic thriller possibilities.
Even still look at the top examples of the genre basic instinct, jade, sliver, what do all of those have in common....Joe Eszterhas.
To say the least his quality standard isn't there anymore, even B-grade schlock with Angie Everhart is pretty non-existent, it's easier and cheaper to throw together some nobody actors some silly plot and put it on cinemax to get people their T&A fix on late night cable.
Even top tier ones like Body Heat (with high tier talent) are relics of the past, just like good Noir mysteries, westerns and 80's action films (with the exception of the Expendables are long gone) a sad reality that people want tripe crap movies with no substance, but unless you bring the quality talent the amount of interest in the genre is slim, teen girls and most women aren't interested in them and who's that leave horny boys who won't go with buddies to see them and older males who'd rather wait for the home versions (for obvious reasons)
So does that not say something why erotic thrillers are a thing of the past when they used to be a fairly decent mainstay of the 80-90's when they were at their maximum output (but far from their creative zenith, which sadly only saw a few peaks here and there)
