The championship picture has become much clearer. Alabama, KSU, Notre Dame and Oregon have established themselves as a super foursome, standing a full head over the best competitors. #4 Oregon was ahead 56-0 at halftime, while #1 Alabama, #5 Notre Dame and #3 Kansas State crushed ranked opponents. None of the Big Four play each other this year.
Formerly undefeated #2 Florida looked anemic in a loss to #10 Georgia. The Gators committed six turnovers and failed to cross the goal line.
Formerly undefeated #7 Oregon St lost to unranked Washington, which came into the game with a losing record.
#9 USC lost a close one to Arizona, despite the fact that speedy Marquise Lee had 345 yards of reception yardage and added another 123 yards on kick returns. The Trojans leaked away the game with five turnovers and a rash of penalties.
The Big Ten had formerly managed to sneak two teams into the bottom of the Top 25. They both lost. To be fair to the conference, I have to note that undefeated Ohio State would probably be ranked #5 if they were eligible.
