There are three new wide releases in theaters this week, all rated R, and not one of them has been pre-screened for critics. That probably means that they suck, and they hope to get some butts in the seats before people realize just how deep the suckitude extends.
Hansel and Gretel, Witch Hunters (3,000 theaters). The R rating includes brief nudity in the rationale.
Movie 43 (2,000 theaters). It's a spoof with an incredible cast. The rationale for this R includes "graphic nudity."
Parker (2,200 theaters). Jason Statham crime thriller. This R is justified by, among other things, "brief sexual content/nudity."
Hansel and Gretel should take the weekend, but with less than $20M. Movie 43 is expected to finish in low double figures, which will place it somewhere from 2nd to 4th. Parker should finish in high single figures, which will probably result in 5th or 6th place.
