Box office report: 'Jack the Giant Slayer' leads a dismal weekend

Box office report: 'Jack the Giant Slayer' leads a dismal weekend

Jack took in a respectable $28 million, about what I expected, but less than it needed to please its investors. The film's total production cost came in around $200M.

21 and Over took in $9M.

The Last Exorcism, Part II finished with $8M.

Poor Ed Harris. His Cold War submarine movie, Phantom, was completely ignored. Some sites are reporting that the film took in just less than $500,000! That's unofficial, but if it is accurate, it would be the sixth-lowest total of all time for a film in 1000 or more theaters. The record is held by the justly forgotten Transylmania with $263,000.
