New app helps Icelanders avoid accidental incest

Sounds silly?

It isn't silly for Iceland now, and it may not be for any country in the future.

The composition of the Icelandic population makes this useful there today, but you have to consider that some similar app may become necessary in the future even in places with large diverse populations and no significant history of intermarriage among relatives. Why? Sperm donation. Some who donate sperm are very prolific - and anonymous - thus raising the very real possibility of "accidental incest" among their biological offspring.
