Three films are in wide release this holiday weekend:
Fast and Furious 6 (76% positive reviews; PG-13; 3600 theaters)
The Hangover, Part III (23% positive reviews; R; 3500 theaters; opens Thursday)
Epic, a CG/3D animated film (65% positive reviews; PG; 3800 theaters)
Box Office Predictions:
Fast and Furious 6 should come close to $100M for the four-day weekend (first place), while The Hangover III is expected to gross around $80M in five days (second), and Epic should finish the holiday weekend in the thirties (fourth place behind Star Trek). Iron Man 3 and Gatsby still have some life in them and should finish a strong 5th and 6th with totals around $20M or a bit less. Those six films are essentially the entire market.
