NCAA College Football Scores

NCAA College Football Scores
There is nothing very exciting to report. Most of the top teams played their usual early-season patsies (Nicholls State has a football team?). Oregon beat the aforementioned Nicholls 66-3, despite benching the starters early. The Ducks amassed 500 yards on the ground and almost 300 more passing.

There were two games between contenders: #8 Clemson edged #5 Georgia by three, and #12 LSU beat #20 TCU by 10.

The 25th-ranked team (Oregon State) lost 49-46. Yawn.

And one ranked team got their asses handed to them: Boise State (#19) was slaughtered by unranked Washington, 38-6. (That may be a misleading statement because the Huskies may get ranked after that game.) At least this year we won't have to ask if Boise is for real. The answer has already been established. Washington powered up about 600 yards from scrimmage, compared to 350 for Boise. Boise's passers got off 46 attempts, but had only 175 yards to show for it. As the Stooges would say, "Dey got moitelized!"

Reader comment:

Two of the early-season playoff-subdivision patsies beat their FBS johns this weekend: North Dakota State edged Big 12 member Kansas State by 3, and McNeese State (out of Lake Charles, Louisiana in case you're wondering) defeated South Florida ... wait for it ... 53-21.

At least Michigam made a game of it when they lost to Appalachian State a few years back. USF just got monkey-stomped, giving up 31 points in the 2nd quarter alone and trailing as badly as 40-7 early in the 3rd.
