New Movies In Theaters August 6th - Rotten Tomatoes

Riddick, the latest adventure of the titular Vin Diesel anti-hero, is the only new film in wide release (3100 theaters) this week. It is rated R for, among other things, a brief Katee Sackhoff topless scene. 54% positive reviews.

Instructions Not Included, the surprise Spanish-language hit, will expand to 700 theaters. Only 40% positive reviews, but audiences seem to love it.

The Ultimate Life, an uplifting PG drama, will be in 400 theaters. No major reviews yet.

Given a substantial cult following and a lack of competition, Riddick will almost certainly dominate the weekend, but not with blockbuster numbers. You can expect it to be somewhere in the low twenties. (That will still be about double the gross of the nearest competitor.)

Instructions Not Included should come in somewhere around $3-5 million, and should finish in the lower half of the top ten.
