New Movies In Theaters September 20th - Rotten Tomatoes

New Movies In Theaters September 20th - Rotten Tomatoes
There are two new movies in wide nationwide release.

Prisoners, which will be in 3200 theaters, is the highly-publicized new film about missing children, starring Hugh Jackman and Jake Gyllenhaal. It's a long (2 1/2 hours), intense film rated R for violence, language and torture scenes. Critics like it. (81% positive reviews.)

Battle of the Year (PG-13, 2000 theaters) is about a dance competition and has 11% positive reviews. And it features Chris Brown. And is in 3D. Could things possibly be any worse? I guess so. The competition could be produced by Donald Trump, ala Miss USA, which would make it the perfect storm of suck.

Prisoners may take the top spot away from Insidious 2. The film has good buzz, but its liability is that its long running time limits the number of screenings per theater. It should take in somewhere around $20 million for the weekend. Who knows with Battle of the Year? Maybe $7-8 million or so. (???)
