"One film that certainly won’t hit the number one spot is Out of the Furnace, which didn’t cook up much business on Friday with a weak $1.9 million from 2,101 theaters. The bleak Christian Bale vehicle, which got stamped with a troubling C+ CinemaScore, may only take in about $5.5 million in its debut weekend.
Further down the chart, the Coen Brothers’ latest Oscar contender, Inside Llewyn Davis, made quite an impression in its limited debut. The folk-singing tale scored a sizzling $123,000 from only four theaters, giving it a one-day per theater average of $30,750. It may finish the weekend with about $325,000, which bodes very well for its upcoming expansion."
