Let's hope we learned something from Jimmy Carter's ill-conceived boycott of the 1980 Olympics, which accomplished exactly nothing and ruined the lives of hundreds of American athletes who spent years preparing for the event, and whose skills are time-sensitive.

By the way, do you remember why we protested the 1980 Olympics?

Because Russia was meddling in the internal affairs of Afghanistan.

Apparently that's OUR job.
