#11 seed Dayton made it to the Elite Eight, but Florida is next, with a 29-game winning streak on the line. I prefer Dayton's relentless, free-wheeling style of play (11 different guys scored in Thursday's game), but the methodical Gators are ranked #1 in the country, will be favored by 10 or 11, and will obviously be one tough-ass opponent. I doubt if Dayton's perma-press will be able to disrupt the Gators' composure enough to produce a Dayton "W," but it could be fun to watch.
Possible good omens for Badger fans: Wisconsin was totally dominant, holding Baylor to 16 in the first half, while Arizona struggled to defeat San Diego State. That indicates there's some hope for the Cheeseheads, even though the early line favors Arizona by three.
Tomorrow's TV schedule is kind of a pain in the rear if you're a fan like me. They scheduled the two "who cares" games against each other, then placed the two marquee games directly opposite one another in the later time slot. I'd like to watch the Virginia game against Michigan State. How often is a #1 seed the underdog against a team that finished third in their own conference? (State did win the post-season tournament.) And Louisville should have a fun game against the aggressive young Kentucky Wildcats.
But I'll have to choose one or t'other. Meanwhile, I don't really have much interest in either of the early games. C'est la vie.
