Baseball trivia: best road teams

Our Brewers are playing great on the road (27-15), and we got to wondering what the reciord is.

The 1906 Cubs were 60-15 on the road. (.800) Their pitchers allowed only 167 runs on the road. By the way, they finished 55-8 in their last 63 games! Winning pct: .873! That'll be a tough one to beat.

The 2001 Mariners were 59-22 on the road (.728). That's the best since the 162-game schedule was adopted in 1961. Here's the all-time list. (The 1907, 1908 and 1909 Cubs are also in the Top 20 of all time!)

And, just to close the discussion, the best home teams of all time (.805 is the record). In my boyhood the 1961 Yankees played .802 ball at home, narrowly missing the record. Since they played the longer 162-game schedule, they hold the record for most home wins (65). That's the year Mantle and Maris combined for 115 dingers.
