Guardians of the Galaxy, the latest PG-13 superhero epic from Marvel: more than 4000 theaters, 92% positive reviews. I hear that this one, although ostensibly an adventure story, is quite funny.

Get On Up, a PG-13 James Brown biopic: about 2500 theaters, 79% positive reviews.

A Most Wanted Man, an R-rated John Le Carre spy thriller: expanding to 700+ theaters, 90% positive reviews. According to the official verbiage, the R rating is just for language.

Box office:

Guardians of the Galaxy was expected to take in about $75 million by Sunday night. Based on the excellent Thursday results, it may do better.

Get On Up may challenge Lucy for second, but is more likely to finish third with a gross in the high teens.

A Most Wanted Man may sneak into the lower portion of the Top Ten with a gross in the $2-3 million range.
