OPENING THIS WEEK IN THEATERS

OPENING October 11th IN THEATERS (Rotten Tomatoes)
Dracula Untold (rated: PG-13; box office prediction: mid twenties - first place; percentage of positive reviews: 26%). "Neither awful enough to suck nor sharp enough to bite, Dracula Untold misses the point of its iconic character's deathless appeal."

The Judge (rated: R for language; box office prediction: mid teens - between third and fifth place; percentage of positive reviews: 48%) "Solidly cast (Downey/Duvall/etc.) and beautifully filmed but thoroughly clichéd, The Judge seems destined to preside over a large jurisdiction of the basic cable afternoon-viewing circuit."

Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day (rated: PG; box office prediction: mid teens - between third and fifth place; percentage of positive reviews: 64%) Stars: Jennifer Garner, Steve Carell. "Affably pleasant without ever trying to be anything more, Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day is a fine -- albeit forgettable -- family diversion."

Addicted (rated: R or strong sexual content, nudity, language and brief drug use; box office prediction: five or six million - ninth place; percentage of positive reviews: 10%). Sample review: "If one squints hard enough, all the nudity and grinding might retain appeal, but for those who can't switch their brain off, the picture is maddeningly inconsistent and comically performed."

One Chance (rated: PG-13; box office prediction: limited; percentage of positive reviews: 63%). It's a movie about Paul Potts. You remember him. He's the schlub who became an overnight singing sensation on Britain's Got Talent with his unexpectedly beautiful rendition of Puccini's Nessun Dorma.
