Snapchat Hacked: 'The Snappening'

Hackers Access At Least 100,000 Snapchat Photos And Prepare To Leak Them, Including Underage Nude Pictures
"A third-party Snapchat client app has been collecting every single photo and video file sent through it for years, giving hackers access to a 13GB library of Snapchats that users thought had been deleted.

4chan users say the collection of photos has a large amount of child pornography, including many videos sent between teenagers who believed the files would be immediately deleted after viewing. Half of Snapchat's users are teenagers between the ages of 13 and 17."

UPDATE #1: according to this report, the Snappening file is real, not a hoax, but not worth your trouble. The author describes in detail his experiences with the monstrous zipped file. A quick summary:
  • It's an enormous, slow download if you can manage to find it.
  • It takes forever and lots of processing power to unzip.
  • After you unzip it, you'll have to divide it into separate directories because there are too many files to scan through all of it with any reasonable amount of processing power.
  • When you are finally able to view it, you'll find that it is "13GB of low resolution garbage."
  • Worse still, only a very small percentage of it, possibly less than 1%, has any nudity.
  • And finally, all the file names are random numbers and letters, so you can't find or identify anything anyway. "The only reason you guys are interested in this is to find people you know. You won't find anybody you know."

UPDATE #2: Snapsaved.com admits to being hacked

However ... to corroborate the points made above

"The hacker does not have sufficient information to live up to his claims
Of creating a searchable Database."

and

"We tried to cleanse the database of inappropriate images as often as possible."

UPDATE #3: Gawker's take on the controversy: "Snapchat Leak Underwhelms Horny Dudes Who Wanted More Nudes"
