The Lazarus Effect (14% positive reviews, 2666 theaters, rated PG-13): A horror thriller about scientists working on a method to bring the dead back to life.
Focus took in $6.5M on Friday to lead the pack. The Lazarus Effect pulled in $3.8 million for second place. In each case that result is somewhat less than expected.
