Tootsie? Is there anything funny in that movie besides Bill Murray's ad-libs?
Here is a partial list of movies way, way funnier than Tootsie that did NOT make the top seven list:
The Big Lebowski (#13)
Duck Soup (#17)
Bananas (#69. Underrated, as I see it.)
Borat (#29)
Office Space (#43)
Dodgeball (Not on the list at all. Bold strategy, Cotton. The decision to leave this film off the list is the worst thing I've seen since the Helsinki incident - and I think we all know how that turned out. )
There's Something About Mary (#18)
Blazing Saddles (just missed at #8). I guess I don't really need to point this out, but anyone who thinks Tootsie is funnier than Blazing Saddles really should not be judging comedy, or for that matter, anything else.
Monty Python and the Holy Grail (just missed at #9)
Some of the films on this list are great movies, but not really hilarious. The Princess Bride may be my favorite movie, and both Annie Hall and The Royal Tenenbaums are inspired by genius. Place them on a list of the best films ever made, and there's no quibble from me, but I'm not sure any of those belong on a list of the funniest films of all time. Just off the top, I can think of some movies which are not considered great films, but which are nonetheless funnier than those classics. (What's Up Tiger Lily?, Top Secret, Kentucky Fried Movie, Porky's, Cat Ballou, Fear of a Black Hat, Baseketball, several Hope/Crosby flicks, Major League, A Mighty Wind)
On the other hand, if we are making a list of the best movies which are also comedies, as opposed to the funniest movies, then I think I'd add Singin' In The Rain and Matinee to the list somewhere.

Couldn't agree more with your comments. I've never understood the hoopla over "Tootsie." You're right, Bill Murray was the only thing I laughed at in that entire movie. "Annie Hall" isn't even the funniest Woody Allen movie by a longshot. I'd pick "Love and Death," but I wouldn't argue with "Sleeper." And any list of the funniest movies of all time that doesn't have "Duck Soup" at least in the top two was written by someone who doesn't know snickers from Shinola.
