About that North Korea meeting, Trump was just kidding
North Korea has actually not changed its offer from any it made to the previous presidents. The old American position, pre-Trump, was that the President would not meet with NK until some commitments were made - "concrete steps and concrete actions." It seemed that Trump was ready to weaken our stance, but Baghdad Barb said today that we are right back to that same square again.
I don't get why Trump changed his mind. I was starting to think he might actually be on to something. Did he walk it back because he doesn't want to be weaker than Obama? Buy why not weaken the old policy and just talk? The old policy doesn't seem to be working. They keep developing nukes and their people keep starving. I don't see the harm in talking to these guys. What's the worst that can happen?
Well, on third thought, bad things could happen if Trump goes to North Korea. I suppose he might insult somebody and create a horrible international incident. I can see him calling the supreme leader Little Rocket Boy to his face, whereupon the North Koreans blow up Air Force One on the runway and we're trapped into war, with hundreds of Americans, including our President, in North Korea as human shields.
Oops. Never mind.
But maybe it would work if (1) the talks were held on neutral territory and (2) Trump were not directly involved in the talks.
It IS working. Did you see dprk and South Korea walk in together at the Olympics? That is MASSIVE. Kim controls his people by telling them lies like south Koreans hate them, are decadent and depraved, that they will EAT them. (not making that up)
ReplyDeleteThe fact that dprk is allowing this level of interaction, talks with the south, serious discussions of unification...that means it's working. A unified Korea won't murder the peninsula with nuclear strikes and would obey UN rules.
I think someone took the oompa loompa aside and explained that two Koreas are busy hating each other, one Korea could be strong enough to come at us economically and otherwise.
