Weekend Box Office Results for September 10-12, 2010

No surprise at the top. Resident Evil was the only new film and it performed about as expected, with a gross in the 27-28 range.

The only real eye-popper was the #2 film, which was The Takers, a film now in its third week, which came back to beat both of last week's films. Because of its second-string cast and formulaic presentation, some reviewers wondered why it got a theatrical release at all, but it debuted at #1 and turned out to be a mini-hit. (I haven't seen it.)
