Argo grossed $12.4 million. Another carry-over, Hotel Transylvania, finished second but with less than $10 million! I'm sure you can guess from those numbers that the new releases were weak performers. None of them reached double figures.
Cloud Atlas: 3rd place; $9.4 million
Silent Hill 3D: 5th or 6th (too close to call); $8M.
Fun Size: 10th; $4M.
Chasing Mavericks: 13th; $2.2M. Based on the estimate, that is the ninth-worst opening in history for films in 2000 or more theaters. It might even finish as poorly as third-worst when they get down to counting the one-dollar bills. That's the second-worst total of the year, but came nowhere near the worst. The Oogieloves seem to have a permanent grip on the annual and lifetime trophies. Chasing Mavericks took in about five times as much as the Oogsters!
