As Neil Degrasse Tyson has pointed out, people only tend to respect scientific evidence when it supports their previous assumptions, and those assumptions may be colored liberal or conservative. Liberals are quick to condemn conservatives as Luddites for their global warming denial, but then turn right around and oppose GMOs or praise the fake experiments of Morgan Spurlock.
