I guess I'm a little out of touch. I checked the list to see if Buddy Holly won anything, and then I found out he's been dead since 1959. Why doesn't somebody tell me these things?

How did "Purple Rain" win for Best Soundtrack? That came out so long ago, I was still young enough to give a damn about the American Music Awards.
