Not a surprise to me, as you might imagine. I've been told by old timers in the music industry that Farrakhan might have become the big breakthrough calypso star; but the star makers of the time decided they needed someone lighter-skinned, handsomer and less ethnic to sell it to 1950s America, so they recruited Harry Belafonte (a pop and jazz singer whose NYC club debut was backed by a band featuring Charlie Parker and Miles Davis) to study calypso and switch genres. The race-based screwing at the hands of the rich white record industry devils undoubtedly made an impact on Farrakhan's thinking. Imagine, without those manipulative music moguls, today we might hear the name Louis Farrakhan and our first thought wouldn't be "black Muslim" or "Nation of Islam" but "Mama Look-A Boo-Boo."
